Setting up a PEO task for real.

This post is a little late but on Wednesday, Mark and I spent almost all day setting up one task for his fluid power unit. Much trying out and messing around had already been done during the earlier 'training sessions' This had produced a task that included 15 separate components. This we felt was just too much and would create an overhead for marking and assessing that would become unmanageable. We set up the first assessment for fluid power which includes evidence for the three mandatory units and ended up with 5 separate parts:

  1. Complete a risk assessment activity
  2. Complete the pre-task documentation (Plan, materials list etc)
  3. Complete task documentation (schematics, test sheet, layout etc)
  4. Complete post task documentation.
  5. Working effectively document
The process of mapping these three tasks was quite interesting for me and the process involved considering very carefully what each piece of evidence actually covers. It was surprising how much is actually reliant upon observation!

Purpose of this blog

I have set up this blog so that the people involved with piloting and eventually using the virtual college e-portfolio at Eagit and record their thoughts and comments on their progress. I hope that all the invited editors enjoy contributing to this area.
